This medication dispenser is capable of holding up to 28 doses and can be programmed to dispense between 1 to 4 times per day. Depending on the frequency of dispensing, the device can accommodate 28 days of medication (1x/day), 14 days (2x/day), 9 days (3x/day), or 7 days (4x/day). Each dispensing compartment can hold up to 9 M&M-sized pills.

When it is time for medication, a Low Frequency alarm will sound intermittently for 30 minutes (this duration is adjustable) until the user slides the med door forward to turn it off and access the current dose. The sloped exit ramp facilitates easy extraction of medication, even for users with dexterity issues. The user has the option to leave the med door open or let it close automatically before the next scheduled dose.

The MedReady device is powered by the included rechargeable battery pack, which is constantly trickle-charged by the A/C adapter. It is designed to operate with both the battery and A/C adapter connected, but in the event of a power outage or if it is unplugged, the dispenser can continue to function for up to 72 hours on the battery alone.
